Understanding Viagra: Dosage, Side Effects & Precautions

Start with the lowest recommended dose (25mg) unless your doctor advises otherwise. This allows your body to adjust.

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 50mg, taken as needed, approximately one hour before sexual activity. Your doctor may adjust this to 25mg or 100mg depending on your response and individual needs. Never exceed the maximum recommended dose.

Common Side Effects

Headache Facial flushing Indigestion Nasal congestion Visual disturbances (blurred vision, sensitivity to light)

Most side effects are mild and temporary. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, seek immediate medical attention.

Precautions

Don’t take Viagra if you have heart problems, uncontrolled high or low blood pressure, or have recently had a heart attack or stroke. Avoid alcohol consumption before or while taking Viagra, as it can intensify side effects. Inform your doctor about all medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements, to avoid potential interactions. Do not take more than one dose per day. Grapefruit juice can interact with Viagra and should be avoided.

Serious Side Effects

Although rare, Viagra can cause serious side effects. Seek immediate medical help if you experience:

Sudden vision loss Prolonged or painful erection (priapism) Chest pain Sudden hearing loss
