- Common Side Effects: These usually resolve on their own. Expect nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or a metallic taste in your mouth. Headache and dizziness are also possible. Less Common Side Effects: You might experience abdominal pain, vaginal itching or discharge (in women), or changes in taste. Serious Side Effects: Seek immediate medical attention if you develop a severe allergic reaction (rash, hives, difficulty breathing), severe abdominal pain, dark urine, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), or unusual bleeding or bruising.
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements. Tinidazole can interact with certain medications. Avoid alcohol while taking tinidazole and for at least three days after your treatment ends. Alcohol can cause a serious reaction. Tell your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney disease, or a blood disorder. Tinidazole may need to be adjusted or avoided completely. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Discuss tinidazole use with your doctor before taking it if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
